Skamania County's Community Events and Recreation Department invites winter recreation and outdoors enthusiasts to its annual Winterfest this Saturday and Sunday at Gifford Pinchot National Forest's Old Man Pass Sno-Park.

Skamania County's Community Events and Recreation Department invites winter recreation and outdoors enthusiasts to its annual Winterfest this Saturday and Sunday at Gifford Pinchot National Forest's Old Man Pass Sno-Park.
"Bundle up your family and bring your sleds and cross country skis," said a spokesman. "We will have many free activities, including snow play, a snowman building contest, a bonfire, product demonstrations, snacks and tons of fun."
Admission to the event is free but sno-park permits are required. Permits can be purchased in advance at the Stevenson Chamber of Commerce office or from local retailers.
Free parking shuttle service from nearby sno-parks will also be available.

Little League:
Sign-ups for the White Salmon Community Youth upcoming baseball and softball season will be held Feb. 17 and 24, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., at Henkle Middle School in White Salmon.
Parents are required to bring a copy of their child's state issued birth certificate to sign-ups.
Try-outs for minor and major teams will be held March 1 from 6-8 p.m. and March 3 from 8-11 a.m. at local fields. No try-outs are needed for those wishing to participate in tee-ball and coach-pitch.
Community Youth President David Garwood is also encouraging adults to volunteer for coaching, umpiring and snack bar duties.

Prep Basketball:
The inaugural WIAA/Dairy Farmers of Washington Class 1B girls and boys basketball tournaments will be played Feb. 21-24 in the Yakima SunDome.
Each tournament will have 16 teams, and the top eight will receive trophies at the conclusion of their games on Saturday, Feb. 24.
Prep Sports:
Monday, Feb. 26, marks the start of the 2007 spring sports season in Washington.
Spring sports include baseball, softball, boys soccer, girls tennis, and track and field.
Athletes must log 10 practices in order to be eligible to participate in the season's first game/meet.
The spring season ends May 26.
Powerlifting:
Columbia High will host the first Washington state high school powerlifting meet of the 2007 season on Saturday, March 3, in Miller Memorial Gym.
Also scheduled are an April 7 meet in Shelton and the state meet on June 2, also in Shelton.
Organizers are also hoping to have a meet on May 5, at a site to be determined.
