Members of the Spokane County Meth Action Team and the Greater Spokane Substance Abuse Council conducted training on Tuesday, Dec. 6, to the Skamania County Meth Action Team.
Twenty-three members of the Skamania County Meth Action Team participated in the training. Meth action team members will be preparing community presentations, based on the information learned, and will be offering these presentations throughout Skamania County beginning in early 2006.
The one-hour community presentation offers the public a brief slide show and lecture centered around general information about methamphetamine, meth labs, identity theft, the role of property owners, treatment, prevention and drug endangered children.
"The Meth Action Team members are working to develop a comprehensive list of potential audiences for this training," according to Sheriff Dave Brown. "We will be contacting businesses, daycares, schools, PTA groups and others early next year. I am confident that by the end of 2006, the "Meth Watch" presentation will have been conducted throughout the entire county."
The Skamania County Meth Action Team meets on the last Wednesday of the month at noon. The next meeting will be Dec. 28 in the basement of the Courthouse Annex. The public is invited to attend.
