Oct. 21-27 is National Friends of Libraries Week, a time to promote Friends of the Library groups across the nation, raise awareness, and stimulate membership.
The Friends of the White Salmon Valley Community Library encourage library supporters in the community to join the local Friends group during this week, or any time throughout the year.
The White Salmon Friends of the Library work to promote the library as a cultural, educational and recreational asset to the community. Membership and contributions help maintain and expand the programs and services offered to patrons of the local library.
The Friends group is affiliated with the Fort Vancouver Regional Library Foundation, a 501(e)3 tax-exempt nonprofit organization.
At this time the Friends of the White Salmon library are in particular need of good used children's books for their ongoing used book sale room located in the library. This is one of their main fund raisers and is open during all regular library hours.
Used books are available for sale at a very low price. Donations of used books in good condition are always welcome; however, at this time children's books are especially needed. Donations may be dropped off at the library.
All community members who are interested in joining the Friends of the Library are invited to attend the next regular meeting, scheduled on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 3 p.m. at the library.
This will be the final planning meeting for the Friends' 38th Annual Holiday Wassail Open House coming up on Saturday, Dec. 1.
