The award winning original roots bluegrass group Kathy Boyd & Phoenix Rising will be performing at the annual Fiddlin' Under the Stars Bluegrass and Art Festival on both Friday, June 24, and Saturday, June 25.
The festival is held at Ekone Park in Goldendale.
Music runs 2 to 10 p.m. on Friday and 1 to 10 p.m. on Saturday.
Based in Tualatin, Ore., Kathy Boyd & Phoenix Rising has much to celebrate. In addition to having written and produced the $10,000 award winning song "Twelve More Miles to Clatskanie," the band also boasts the current Roots Music Association Bluegrass Songwriter of the Year - guitar player and Keizer resident Dennis Nelson.
The most recent CD release - "Walk Humbly" - reached #62 on the Roots Music Airplay Chart this past November. The band was recently announced as the Grand Marshals of the 2011 Clatskanie Heritage Celebration -- where the theme for the event will be taken from their award-winning song "Twelve More Miles to Clatskanie."
Other bands performing will include Hardshell Harmony, the Bluegrass Regulators, the Oly Mountain Boys, and Fiddlegrass.
