Mollie Lewandowski scored 16 points, Kennedy Nofziger chipped in 14 and the Lady Cougars broke open a 40-39 lead with a 22-16 run in the fourth quarter to defeat Dufur 62-55 in a non-league hoops battle Saturday in Molalla.
In the final period, Country Christian hit on 6 of 7 3-pointers and went 9 for 12 from the free throw line.
With five minutes and 25 seconds left in the regulation, Dufur senior Taylor Darden capped a 10-5 spurt with a basket to move her team ahead 49-45.
Over the next two minutes, the Cougars regained control with a 6-0 rally to make it 51-49 with 3:32 on the clock.
Darden hit 1 of 2 free throws and Aimeelyn Miller gave the No. 9-ranked Rangers a 52-51 lead at the 2:55 mark.
Lewandowski then hit a basket, Nofziger sank two free throws, Courtney McGrath had a field goal and with 52 seconds left, Lewandowski hit a two-point shot to swell the Cougar lead to 59-52.
Dufur freshman Alexus Outlaw inched her team closer to 59-55 after a 3-pointer, but Country Christian hit 3 of 4 free throws, and the Rangers had a turnover and missed a 3-pointer in their last few possessions to end the game.
Dufur (10-6 overall, 6-1 league) shot 15 of 35 from the field overall, as Miller scored 21 points, pulled down nine rebounds, blocked five shots and had four steals in her 32 minutes of play.
Darden added 18 points, five rebounds and three assists, Chloe Beeson had five points, two assists and two steals, and Sydney Reed was good for four points on 1 of 2 shooting.
Dufur went 23 of 37 from the free throw line and committed 21 turnovers.
Country Christian shot 25 of 53 from the field and shot 10 of 20 from the line.
Dufur hosts Mitchell (6-10, 1-6) at 6 p.m. Friday.
