enjoyed good fishing and perfect weather Sept. 27, with 18 fish turned in for the weigh-in.
The overall winner of Andy Nichol's beautiful hand blown glass fish and a rod and reel was Natalie Schaefer of Oregon City with a 16-pound, 15-ounce chinook.
Men’s first place went to Berk Greenwood of Glenwood, Iowa. His chinook weighed in at 12-pounds, 15-ounces. The Youth division was won by The Dalles student Alexis Phillips with a 5- pound, 8-ounce silver salmon. Cody Farabee of The Dalles turned in the only steelhead of the tournament, a 13-pound, 8- ounce “B” run beauty. Jerry Taylor of Sisters was surprised that he won the “tiny Tail” with his little jack salmon.
The weigh-in at Wasco's historic RR depot was a busy and fun time, with good food, a large silent auction plus winners of “goodies” in the popular “I, also, fished but didn't win anything” category. All other registered fisherman were given a fishing plug for catching the next “big one.”
Eight dedicated volunteers pulled this event off without a hitch.
Many local fishermen
participated, but others came from Washington, Iowa, and Idaho.
