(Delaney Filby’s byline has been appearing in The Dalles Chronicle on a variety of articles. Here is an introduction to our summer intern):
I’ve lived all along the East Coast: born in Pennsylvania, raised in the Carolinas, and now studying in New York City. But this summer I’m living on the West Coast, and interning at The Dalles Chronicle.
In the fall, I will be starting my sophomore year at King’s College, where I’m studying Media, Culture, and the Arts with a concentration in Journalism.
I landed in The Dalles because my dad has been working here, and soon my mom and my sister will be coming to take on the West with us.
My favorite video game as a kid was “The Oregon Trail,” which features The Dalles. I guess you could say it’s always been my dream to reach TD, because usually in the game I didn’t make it.
Writing has been a hobby of mine for years. But I’m studying journalism because it not only gives me the chance to write, but hear other people’s stories.
Over the past month, I’ve gotten to meet so many interesting people and hear about their lives in The Dalles.
I’ve also learned that the man standing outside the gas station is not trying to rob me, he is legally obligated to pump my gas.
