Accidents
The Dalles
August 27, 1:29 p.m. – Two vehicle, non-injury crash at the intersection of West 9th and Garrison streets. One vehicle was towed.
August 27 – Non-injury hit and run in the 1700 block of E. 10th St. was reported at 3:54 p.m. A jeep parked in the area was sideswiped overnight. Right front bumper was damaged.
August 27 – A vehicle in the Kmart parking lot was reported damaged at 5:34 p.m. Report taken for hit and run.
August 27 A vehicle parked in the area of 2nd and Federal streets was struck in the middle of the drivers’ side door. The damage appeared to be from the door of a vehicle parked next to him.
Fire
Mid-Columbia Fire & Rescue
August 27, 6 p.m. – Personnel responded to 1240 W. Sixth St. on reports of smoke visible in a trash can near an ATM machine. Upon arrival crews found the container had been removed from the can and it appeared to have had a small fire caused by one of the many cigarette butts thrown in the can. Crews changed the can liner and disposed of the butts at the station.
Crews also responded to two requests for emergency medical services.

A large black and tan dog with a black nylon collar roaming at large in the 3,000 block of West 7th St. was picked up and lodged at HAL Thursday morning.
Two women involved in a dog-related dispute in the 2500 block of Wright St. Thursday morning agreed that both should be trespassed from the others property. Both animal owners were also advised to leash dogs while out front of their residence.
A man was warned Thursday afternoon to stop harassing a woman with texts and phone calls.
A man was arrested Thursday evening in the 300 block of W. 8th and charged with fourth degree domestic assault. He was lodged at regional jail.
Wasco County
A man broke into a shop and garage and threatened the homeowner in the 5000 block of Chenowith Road Wednesday night was arrested Thursday morning and faces charges of attempted burglary, criminal mischief and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
A man in the 6500 block of Reservoir Road reported the smell of a decomposing body. The carcass of a deer was located in the vicinity.
Oregon State Police
Officers from The Dalles patrol area assisted Hood River County Sheriff with evacuations of residences threatened by a wildfire in Cascade Locks near city hall. Two small structures were destroyed or damaged. Cause of the fire is under investigation.
