CASCADE LOCKS — On Saturday May 23, just after 10 a.m., Hood River County Sheriff's Deputies were called to a residence on Clark St., near the corner of Forest Lane in Cascade Locks, on a report of a single vehicle crash.
Upon arrival, the responding deputy noted a Land Rover had careened into the home of a Cascade Locks family, narrowly missing an occupant that was seated next to the entrance point.
There were five people inside the residence at the time of the impact, all were unharmed.
The vehicle reportedly caused significant property damage at three other nearby residences, passing through at least two fences, before coming to rest partially imbedded in the residence.
The crach caused notable damage to the house and the vehicle could not be immediately removed.
The driver of the SUV was identified as 26-year-old Zachary Jon Struthers of Cascade Locks.
He was ultimately transported to NORCOR where he was lodged on charges of DUII — Controlled Substance, Reckless Driving, five counts of Recklessly Endangering and an outstanding Lane County warrant.
A contractor was called to the scene of the crash to ensure the residence was structurally stable prior to removing the vehicle.
After 6 p.m., the vehicle that Struthers had been operating, was removed from the residence.
