Whether he was alone in a gym perfecting his craft, on the court with his teammates for practice or under the bright lights on game nights, Dakota Murr gave everything he had to The Dalles High School. After capping a regular-season with his third consecutive first-team all-Columbia River Conference award, Murr earned all-state honorable mention recognition for the second year in a row.

To the editor: “Horrified” is the only word to describe my reaction to the Chronicle headline “TD finds BB gun ‘no threat.’” Reading the text only worsened my horror. As the victim of a BB shot that nearly destroyed my eye when I was 9 or 10 years old, I think my reaction is understandable.

The Gorge Hoops Basketball is offering a one-day signup for its youth recreational league from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at Wahtonka. If players are not signed by Oct. 18, they will be unable to participate in the league games, but if a player cannot make it, someone can attend in their place.
