I am hoping that I can use this forum to thank the many people who attended my recent birthday party at Spooky’s. I was showered with cards, gifts, and well wishes from many wonderful friends and family members.
To the editor: Dear Santa, It’s been a long time since I’ve written you a letter for a big wish. I was born on Christmas Day in 1949 with a twin sister (her being older by 6 minutes, which is OK). I got to see what I was getting from Santa, and for my birthday (just a different color). To me every day is a special day. I love Christmas, also shared it with my parents who are gone now. When my dad got sick, I was his Elf for mom.
It started off with reminiscing about old cars, and ended up with a trip to La Grande in a brand-new Cadillac for Senior Wish recipient Buck Hermann. With funds raised from the recent Country Fair at Hawks Ridge Assisted Living, Community Relations Director Kelly Emerson and Resident Care Coordinator Melissa Stanton hit the road to grant Buck his very own wish: a trip home.
The colorful string of handcrafted flags lifted into the air, fluttering peacefully in the Hood River winds. Teens and teachers raised their hands in benediction, sending their wishes for peace, prosperity, kindness and community out toward the towns they call home.
