To the editor: I appreciate your Crosstalk feature. I would appreciate it more if you focused on local issues. I suggest a Crosstalk featuring the pros and cons of the continued existence of the Mid-Columbia Council of Governments.

To the editor: Back in 1999, I discovered my parent’s sewer bill (inside city limits) was $17.25 while mine (outside city limits) was $29.25. I called City of The Dalles to find out why. I was told that since I don’t pay city taxes, I would have to make up for it by paying more on the sewer bill. This has continued for years with ever increasing hikes.

Ready or not, we’re in the home stretch of the 2014 general election. Ballots will be sent out next month and voters are considering their choices. Since election letters are already beginning to appear in The Chronicle’s mailbox, we can expect this to be a competitive season.
