The Hood River Valley High volleyball team regained some momentum just in time for the home stretch of its Columbia River Conference schedule with an exciting home win in four sets (24-26, 25-21, 25-14, 25-19) at home Wednesday over The Dalles-Wahtonka Eagle Indians.

After a rough start to the season, Hood River Valley High School varsity volleyball picked up two league wins this week on the road against Hermiston (20-25, 26-24, 8-25, 15-12) and The Dalles (21-25, 25-17, 25-21, 25-15). The result puts the Eagles at 2-1 in league play after a loss last week against Pendleton.

The Hood River Valley Eagles varsity volleyball team has something to draw on this year that it doesn’t usually have much of: height. With a couple girls at or above the 6-foot mark and several others not far down the measuring stick, head coach Scott Walker says this year’s lineup is the tallest he has had in his eight years with the team.

In its first two matches of the season, Hood River Valley High School’s varsity volleyball team hosted Pendleton on Tuesday and Lakeridge Thursday evenings. Both matches ended in similar fashion, and although the Eagles lost 1-3 in both, the early-season competition was a good measure of the team’s strengths and weaknesses in time to make adjustments for the bulk of the season.
