The City of The Dalles, leading a coalition that includes Wasco County and the Port of The Dalles, is seeking a $600,000 grant from the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to help public and private property owners evaluate environmental hazards on their property.

Blast rocks Washington gas plant; 5 workers hurt

A large explosion rocked a natural gas processing plant on the Washington-Oregon border Monday, injuring five workers, causing about 400 people to evacuate from nearby farms and homes, and emitting a mushroom cloud of black smoke that was visible for more than a mile.
