MORO – As the curtain closes on a promising breakthrough for the Sherman girls’ basketball program, head coach Steve Bird is looking forward to a productive offseason with all but three players returning for play next winter.
The South Wasco County girls’ basketball team opened eyes during the regular season with 21 wins and a 15-game winning streak. It appears that the Lady Redsides are hitting their stride at the right time for Big Sky Conference girls’ basketball competition at Madras High School.
MORO – Sherman head coach Steve Bird is counting on his girls’ basketball team to get healthy and further progress over the next 10 days his team has off. This past weekend, the short-handed Lady Huskies split two games during Sherman Tournament action, defeating Stanfield by four points and losing Saturday versus 2A Grant Union.
In what turned out to be a back-and-forth Big Sky Conference showdown, the Sherman Huskies eventually outlasted Ione with an 11-2 overtime surge to capture a 54-45 triumph Saturday in Ione.
MORO – Although the Sherman Husky roster is young, with 11 underclassmen, six freshmen, senior shooting guard Emily Hill is looking forward to a successful final season with her teammates and second-year coach Steve Bird.
