Mt. Everest climber Woolums ‘at mercy of weather gods’

Hood River mountaineer Scott Woolums reached the summit of Mt. Everest Thursday morning at about 10:45 a.m. Nepal time. While standing on the top of the highest mountain in the world — at 29,035 feet — he took time to call home on his satellite phone.

Mountain guide Scott Woolums has a few things to do between now and March 25, when he leaves for Nepal to guide a group of three clients on a climb of Mt. Everest -- and make his own second attempt at summiting the world's highest mountain.
