Winds cancel ‘75th’ Cross Channel Swim event

Hood River County Sheriff’s Department ordered that the Roy Webster Cross-Channel Swim be cancelled due to high winds. The swim was cancelled for a second year in a row; in 2017, the event was called off because of the Eagle Creek fire.

Undeterred by the distance (1.1 miles) or water temperature (average of 69 degrees), almost 500 hardy swimmers from around the world will again take the plunge this Labor Day during Hood River’s 72nd annual Roy Webster Cross-Channel Swim.
