Hood River Valley junior hurler Ryan Ward pitched his first complete game no-hitter to help lead the Eagles to a 4-0 win over arch rival The Dalles-Wahtonka Eagle Indians in the opening contest of Columbia River Conference baseball doubleheader. HRV’s success continued in game two, as four pitchers combined on a one-hitter in a 6-5 win to help coach Eric Harjo’s Eagles earn the impressive sweep Saturday at HRV’s Traner Field.

With clear skies and a stadium full of cheerful fans, the Hood River Valley High School varsity football team hosted the Wilson Trojans Friday night in the Eagles’ homecoming game at Henderson Community Stadium.
Continued improvement by the Hood River Valley High Eagles football team was evident Friday evening with the team’s 45-19 road win over the Redmond Panthers. For the Eagles (1-2), guided by coach Caleb Sperry, it was an important win that helped the team regain some momentum as it heads into the heart of the nine-game regular season.
Pre-game fireworks and a sizable home crowd helped provide the Hood River Valley High School varsity football team with an emotional lift in its home-opener Friday evening — a nonleague game versus the now 2-0 Forest Grove Vikings.
The defending Columbia River Conference champion Hood River Valley High Eagles started their schedule on the road Friday evening against the Sandy Pioneers. Things were looking good for head coach Caleb Sperry and his Eagles, who were up 14-10 midway through the second quarter. Sandy regained the momentum though, scoring 31 unanswered points before HRV could score another touchdown, to take control of the game and finish with a 47-21 victory.
