We all just witnessed a small-town revolution initiated by the community who shared the love of their town to #thedalles and beyond! How awesome is it to be a part of what is happening in this community. This is just the beginning of something big!

The winning town in the Small Business Revolution’s voting competition, in which The Dalles competed with four other towns  to be the featured town of the fifth season of its business revitalization program, will be announced at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, and a watch party will be held at The Dalles Civic Auditorium as the winner is declared.

Doors open at 4:30, with snacks and a no host bar in the community room.

A recent phone call has local boosters believing that The Dalles has made the top five for a chance to be featured on a TV show that would bring $500,000 in improvements to local small businesses.

I have been fascinated with Cuba all my adult life. In 1959, Fidel Castro and Che Guevara led a small group of young men and women into Havana, Cuba, and took over the government of Fulgencio Batista. In 1959 Dick Schmuck and I were married. Finally, 55 years later, we visited Cuba.
