The public meeting listing in the Sunday Chronicle incorrectly listed the time of the Wasco County Commission’s public hearing on the appeal of a planning commission decision regarding added Union Pacific rail line in Mosier. The hearing takes place today, Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 3 p.m. at the Columbia Gorge Discovery Center, 5000 Discovery Dr., The Dalles.

Foot pursuit of suspects shuts down UP railroad

Train traffic on the Union Pacific rail line was briefly shut down Friday morning as law enforcement pursued a male suspect who allegedly fled during a traffic stop made by the Hood River Police Department.

A new non-profit group has lofty goals: to permanently lower the Columbia River, restoring Celilo Falls and its native fishery; and reconnecting Celilo Village to the river by rerouting the nearby rail lines and freeway to Washington.
