The band Alibi will be featured in a benefit dance for Noah Smith. It will take place on Saturday at the Hood River American Legion Club from 7 to 11 p.m.

“The Tempest” opens Friday in Bowe Theatre at Hood River Valley High School. It continues March 1, 7, 8, 13, 14 and 15. Curtain is at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for students and seniors, available at the door.

A fund-raising gala not soon to be forgotten was held Saturday night at the Hood River Sports Club. It was an evening of eating and dancing, good-natured bidding battles and socializing with friends. And when it was all said and done, the goal behind the gala had been surpassed many times over.
