The Dalles Middle School eighth grader Noah Holloran won all five of his matches Saturday at the 2016 Region 20 Chess for Success Tournament while seventh grader Nick Caracciolo won three of his five matches.

The Dalles High School sophomores Chase Snodgrass and Jacob Holloran each won two of five matches at the state Chess for Success tournament in Portland earlier this month, putting them in a tie for fifth place.

The Region 20 Chess Tournament, which was postponed due to adverse weather conditions earlier this month, was held at The Dalles Middle School on February 15th.

Students from The Dalles Middle School and Dry Hollow Elementary had the experience of playing chess on the state level the weekend of March 15.
