Nixyaawii used 18 points from Kaitlynn Melton and 17 by Mary Stewart in a 68-25 win over Dufur Friday in a girls’ hoops contest at Dufur High School.

Once again, the Sherman Huskies had a tough test at home against Nixyaawii and played well enough to get the win, but the Golden Eagles broke free in the final quarter using a 23-11 run to grab a 62-49 victory Friday in Big Sky boy’s hoops play in Moro.

Through three quarters, South Wasco County built a big lead over Nixyaawii, but after playing a gritty four quarters 24 hours earlier at home against Sherman, the legs tired out, as Nixyaawii worked a 37-23 run in the final eight minutes and overtime in a 79-75 victory Saturday in Big Sky conference play in Mission.
