A crowd of former students, teachers and administrators, many with old photographs and other memorabilia to share, gathered at Coe Primary Building Thursday to celebrate the building’s 100th birthday.

Timothy Farrell writes: “Several years ago the Board of the Mountain View Memorial Cemetery suggested that I take Master Gardening classes in order to better manage the historic two acre property just outside the city limits of Hood River.

This past April, my parents invited my brother and I on a cruise through the Galapagos Islands aboard the National Geographic Endeavor. On the second night we anchored off of Isla Espanola, also known as Hood Island. The island is famous as an albatross breeding ground. As a maritime attorney and local Hood River history buff, the island was significant to me.
