Nathan Nañez, a senior at The Dalles High School, attended a lobby day in Salem with three other students — two from Coquille School District and one from Redmond High School — to meet with legislators and discuss state funding in education.
Nathan Nanez, a senior at The Dalles High School, was chosen to represent the Eastern Oregon area as part of a campaign called Oregonians for Student Success. He was one of four students selected statewide.
The Dalles scored a season-high 193.3 points to earn runner-up honors at the OSAA coed small division state championships Saturday at Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Up until last season, The Dalles cheer team had achieved consecutive state runner-up finishes and appeared to be destined to finally take that next step.
In their first foray into the competitive cheer world, The Dalles’ Emily Adams and Nathan Nañez showed they belong. That duo, plus veteran seniors Kendyl Kumm and Jessika Nañez put on a dazzling display last Saturday at the Oregon Cheerleading Coaches Association All-State competition at Thurston High School in Springfield.
