The Dalles had its five-game winning streak snapped against Tyler Newsom, Dakota Sams and the No. 11-ranked Pendleton Buckaroos, 81-60 in boys basketball action Friday at Kurtz Gym.

Kilee Hoylman dropped 22 points, Lauryn Belanger added 10, and Rainie Codding poured in eight points, as The Dalles girls basketball goes on a 35-12 second-half flurry for a 56-23 win against Crook County Friday at Kurtz Gym.

The Dalles High School honored the top athletes for the month of December at a morning ceremony on Friday, Dec. 4 at The Riv located on 401 E. 10th Street.

The Dalles athletes were rewarded for their strong performances during the month of January at a ceremony last Friday at the Riverenza Cafe.

At one point in the season, The Dalles went through a six-game losing streak. After Wednesday’s lopsided 64-19 victory over 4A Crook County at Kurtz Gym, the Lady Riverhawks have won two out of their last three games and appear to be gaining some steam at the midway point of the season.

The Dalles split a pair of games at the Crescent Valley Tournament last weekend in Corvallis, with the victory coming on Saturday against Ashland by a 42-26 margin.

The Dalles girls’ soccer team is steadily making its jump as one of the upper echelon programs in the 5A division. Victoria Barragan and Addie Klindt were named as Columbia River Conference first-team winners, and both Molly Taylor and Courtney Hert earned second-team honors from opposing coaches for their standout performances this fall for The Dalles girls’ soccer team.

The Dalles allowed an early goal, three minutes into play, and also gave up an insurance tally at the 34-minute mark, in their 2-0 shutout loss to 4A Madras Thursday at Discovery Field.
