Spring sports get underway with four home games Monday

Hood River Valley High School athletics kicked off the spring sports season with a frenzy of activity Monday afternoon, when Eagle baseball, softball, boys lacrosse and girls tennis all hosted their first contests of the season. As follows are brief reports from each of the events.

Big improvement all around was the theme Tuesday after Hood River Valley High School varsity girls tennis team’s narrow loss to Pendleton. Assistant coach Justine Ziegler said, “We saw huge improvements in every one of our girls. They were on a whole other level yesterday and played absolutely beautiful tennis out there.”

Hood River Valley High School varsity girls tennis won all but one match Tuesday afternoon in a home pairing against The Dalles Wahtonka.
