DUFUR – Since taking home a Big Sky Conference district championship in 2014, the Dufur volleyball team has had three consecutive runner-up finishes. Second-year coach Kristin Whitley fields a roster of three seniors, five juniors, a sophomore and a freshman, including all-league winners Sydnee Byers, Trinity Blake and Mikayla Kelly that aspire to take a monumental step forward.

The Dufur Rangers jumped out to a 2-1 lead in this 1A state sub-round matchup, but the No. 20-ranked Griswold Grizzlies won the fourth set, 25-14, and broke open an 11-all fifth-set deadlock with a 4-1 run, capped by a kill from Kailey Mize for a 15-12 victory Wednesday in Dufur.

MORO – After a 20-win campaign and a No. 2 seed at last season’s Big Sky Conference, the short-handed Lady Redsides were dispatched from postseason contention with back-to-back sweep losses. Saturday in Moro, No. 8-ranked South Wasco County was singing a redemption song following sweeps of Sherman and Dufur on its way to its first-ever volleyball district championship.

DUFUR – The Dufur Rangers may have been swept in two matches Saturday at home versus 2A St. Paul and Culver, but head coach Kristin Whitley used the double dual as opportunity to gauge how her group would do against two top-3 programs. “Overall, I’m glad to have the opportunity to play such high-caliber teams,” Whitley said.

DUFUR – After a one-year break, Kayla Bailey is back and ready to be a driving force behind the surge of the Dufur volleyball team. As one of four setters on the roster, Bailey is looking forward to the chance to take over the role vacated by graduated senior and all-state winner, Sydney Reed.
