Skiers battled changing weather, high winds, low visibility and variable course conditions last week in the 2014 Oregon Interscholastic Ski Racing Association state championships at Mt. Hood Meadows.
ÂÂHood River Valley High School ski team continued its run at the Mt. Hood Ski League title over the weekend with a third straight sweep of racing action at Mt. Hood Meadows. Five boys and four girls finished in the top 10 and William Lamer and Korey Cimock won individual titles in Saturday’s giant slalom race — the first of that discipline this season.
Claiming the outright Columbia River Conference title Tuesday evening with a momentum-building 3-1 win at The Dalles-Wahtonka, the Hood River Valley High School varsity girls soccer team closed the regular season with a 4-0-2 CRC record and a 5A No. 11 ranking.
For the first time in team history, the Hood River Valley High School girls golf team claimed a district championship. The team of four – Laura Waller, Korey Cimock, Alicia Hay and Gabriella Whitehead – shot a two-day total of 782 on Monday and Tuesday of this week to claim the Columbia River Conference championship over Pendleton, Hermiston and The Dalles-Wahtonka.

With Mount Hood Ski League action wrapped up for the season after last weekend’s final race at Skibowl, individual and team league champions were named for boys and girls slalom and giant slalom divisions.
With only two races remaining in Mount Hood Ski League action, Hood River Valley High School skiers are looking poised to be among the top echelon at next month’s Oregon Interscholastic Ski Racing Association state championships.
