Sawyer’s customers have likely noticed some changes to the storefront — the True Value signs have all been taken down and Ace Hardware trucks can be seen pulling up out back. Last fall, Jared Sawyer struck a deal with Ace Hardware to convert the store from True Value. “I have received a lot of questions, either asking why we were going out of business or why we sold the business to Ace,” Sawyer said, “neither are happening.”

Jared Sawyer and his wife, Cora, are excited to announce that they are now the sole owners of Sawyer’s True Value & Just Ask Rental. The couple are the fourth generation of the family business that started with Shirley and Gladys Sawyer in 1940.

Community members in The Dalles and Hood River are asked to donate snack and hygiene items to make Christmas merrier for an Oregon National Guard platoon and other troops in Afghanistan. The goal of the Holidays for Heroes Committee is to pack at least 30 boxes at a public event on Thursday, Nov. 16.

Still youthful after 73 years: At the age of 73, every anniversary is something to celebrate and that’s what Sawyer’s True Value and Just Ask Rental is doing this week through Sunday April 21.
