MORO – The Sherman defense forced 30 turnovers, held Condon-Wheeler to just four second-half field goals and erased a 23-20 halftime deficit with a 26-12 flurry in the final 16 minutes to pull off a 46-35 comeback victory Friday in a Big Sky Conference girls’ basketball contest played in Moro.
Riding a six-game losing streak, the Sherman Huskies led 21-14 at the half and finished on a 24-18 second-half run to dispatch of Wallowa by a 45-32 margin for seventh-place honors during final-day girls’ basketball action at the Optimist Christmas Classic in La Grande.
MORO – There were several factors that hurt the Sherman Huskies in an 82-42 girls’ basketball setback at the hands of Yakama Tribal Tuesday in Moro. “Poor shooting and turnovers cost us this game,” Sherman head coach Steve Bird said.
MORO – In the always-competitive Big Sky Conference, the Sherman Huskies finished fourth in the league standings at 3-4, amassed a 7-6 overall record and earned a district tournament invitation. For those improvements, the Lady Huskies had Desiree Winslow and Sammie Lepinski pick up first-team all-league awards, and the duo of Jaelyn Justesen and Savannah Moe were second-team recipients.
