Over the years, football players from Dufur and Sherman have engaged in some classic battles on the gridiron, with the teams splitting four games. Saturday in Union, Dufur standouts Curtis Crawford and Ian Cleveland, along with Sherman’s Jacob Justesen and Treve Martin, cast aside their rivalry as teammates on the East squad at the 29th annual Eight-Man Classic played Saturday.

The three-time state champion Dufur Rangers capped a season with seven different players garnering all-state awards, led by Hagen Pence who was a first-team member on both sides of the ball and Player of the Year.

COTTAGE GROVE – In his 30 years as Dufur’s football coach, Jack Henderson has racked up a 254-87 overall record, with nine state championships, including three in a row twice, from 1999-2001 and 2015-2017.

DUFUR – On a chilly Friday night, the two-time defending champion Rangers were a sea of red renegades ready to send a message to any and all in the 1A classification, that the road to the blue trophy leads to Dufur High School, as all phases of the game stood tall in a 72-0 triumph over the No. 15 Lowell Red Devils.

DUFUR – With the score tied at 22-all early in the third quarter, Dufur head coach Jack Henderson called on his rugged running duo of Ian Cleveland and Hagen Pence to carry the load. The Bruise Brothers delivered with a combined 211 second-half yards on 21 rushes, as the No. 2-ranked Rangers broke open a 22-all tie with 32 unanswered points in a 54-22 victory over the Sherman Huskies Friday in Dufur.
