After a week off from competition, the Hood River Valley cross country girls team showed no signs of rust in their return back to competition on Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Nike Portland XC meet.
The Hood River Valley High School cross country season is officially underway after both the boys and the girls teams competed in last weekend’s Ultimook Race Nike Invitational at Tillamook.
Fresh off a fourth-place finish at the 5A state championships two weeks ago, the HRV boys and girls cross country team had arguably an even better performance last week at a race that was simply for fun… and bragging rights.

In a preview of the OSAA 5A state championship course, Hood River Valley High School cross country raced at Lane Community College in Eugene Saturday at the annual Northwest Classic. With many of the state’s 5A and 6A teams in attendance, the Eagles lined-up against fields of nearly 150 varsity runners who were there to test their legs and lungs at the biggest meet of the season thus far.
