The Hood River Valley High Eagles baseball team overcame a five-run deficit and was two innings away Saturday of winning its first Intermountain Conference title since 2017. As it was, host Pendleton came from behind to tie the championship game in the sixth inning and then won it in the seventh, 7-6.

The Hood River Valley High Eagles baseball team has enjoyed tremendous success this season and they’re hoping that it will continue as they seek to win the Intermountain Conference Championship for the first time since 2017.

The Hood River Valley High Eagles football team played extremely tough in a Special District 1 home game against the highly regarded and fifth-ranked Bend Lava Bears (4-0). A much younger Eagles (0-4) squad with just eight seniors made a valiant effort against a more experienced Bend team (20 seniors) and they were within two scores for most of the game last Friday.

The Hood River Valley High Eagles baseball team has enjoyed remarkable success this year at Traner Field where they’ve posted a sparkling 6-1 record. If their home cooking continues this week, the Eagles will very likely win their first ever Columbia River Conference championship Friday when they face the Pendleton Buckaroos.

Of all the things that might be scary on Halloween night, nothing would be worse for coach Caleb Sperry and his Hood River Valley High Eagles football team than a loss to the winless Riverhawks from The Dalles. The Eagles (3-6) clearly had no intentions of letting that happen, however, as they concluded their season on a positive note with a 34-6 win over TDW (0-9) on Senior Night Friday at Henderson Community Stadium.

Continued improvement by the Hood River Valley High Eagles football team was evident Friday evening with the team’s 45-19 road win over the Redmond Panthers. For the Eagles (1-2), guided by coach Caleb Sperry, it was an important win that helped the team regain some momentum as it heads into the heart of the nine-game regular season.

The Hood River Valley High Eagles baseball team faced the No. 3-ranked team in the state Saturday in a doubleheader matchup versus the Hermiston Bulldogs in which the outcome was crucial to their goal of being a top contender for the Columbia River Conference title.
