The Pioneer Cemetery got some TLC from the National Guard during a drill weekend in mid-July, and the local unit plans to “adopt” the historic site and care for it.

To the editor: My daughter and her family were having breakfast at the Days Inn when three National Guardsmen in uniform came in. My 5-year-old grandson’s eyes got bigger than hub caps and he gasped in awe, “Look there are some Americans!”
