The race amongst the three Columbia River Conference softball teams vying for the two play-in spots left in the league got a lot tighter Tuesday night in The Dalles when HRV defeated the Riverhawks 2-1, pulling within a single game of The Dalles and Hermiston in the playoff race.
The Eagles returned this week from their successful spring break trip down to Arizona and resumed their winning ways in their first game of the week, handily defeating the 4A Gladstone Gladiators on the road.
With the CRC title firmly in HRV’s hands, the Eagles were only playing for pride in Friday’s game against The Dalles, who unlike HRV, had a lot to lose — namely the final play-in spot in the Columbia River Conference.
