New truck speeds food service

A new Oregon Food Bank truck will be dedicated at a ceremony Thursday that will also celebrate the expanded ability of local hunger relief agencies to distribute fresh produce, food boxes, meals, backpacks and supplemental products to needy families. “This truck was purchased specifically to serve the region,” said Sharon Thornberry, OFB’s rural community liaison.

Hood River Co. tops state in employment

Jobs are strong in the Columbia River Gorge this summer. Hood River County’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate led Oregon at 3.9 percent in June, earning the distinction as the only county below 4 percent, according to a report by regional Economist Dallas Fridley.
