(The Center Square) – The Pentagon is asking Congress for more than $21 billion for military barracks in its fiscal year 2027 budget request, the largest such investment in recent years, but the government's top watchdog says the deferred maintenance backlog has more than doubled since 2020 and important recommendations from its last barracks review remain unfinished.

(The Center Square) – The U.S. House of Representatives, in a 215-211 vote, approved on Wednesday night a budget resolution that would fund immigration enforcement until the end of President Donald Trump’s administration and set up a route to reopen the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

(The Center Square) - The U.S. House of Representatives, in a 235-191 vote Wednesday, passed a measure to extend the spy powers of the federal government for another three years. Because of an amendment added to the bill that would prevent the creation of a central bank digital currency, the Senate majority leader said it is dead on arrival in his chamber.
