ANOTHER VOICE: A new park needs a community’s shared vision

The City of Hood River is expected to grow by 4,500 people in the next 20 years. As the city grows we need to carefully plan for our future so that Hood River becomes a stronger, healthier, and more vibrant community, not just a bigger one. Public parks have a pivotal role in enhancing quality of life. We need to provide for the future livability of Hood River by investing in parkland now.

Labor Day: Sept. 1 is WWII’s 75th anniversary

Labor Day is more than a day for barbecues and the last day of school vacation. Coming on the first Monday in September, it is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.
