A resident of The Dalles was sentenced to federal prison Tuesday, June 7, for transporting and possessing thousands of images depicting child sexual abuse, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s office, District of Oregon.
On July 17, Hood River County Sheriff’s Office and Portland FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force conducted a joint operation with assistance from the Columbia Gorge Major Crimes Team and Hood River County District Attorney’s Office to identify and apprehend individuals seeking to commit sexual acts with minor children. The operation resulted in the arrest of five males ranging in age from 16 to 44 years of age. All suspects were lodged at NORCOR.
Four men and one juvenile, ages 16 to 44, were arrested earlier this month and charged with seeking to commit sexual acts with minor children following a joint operation by the Hood River County Sheriff’s Office and Portland FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force. The Columbia Gorge Major Crimes Team, including officers from The Dalles, and the Hood River County District Attorney’s Office assisted, according to a press release issued Tuesday by the Hood River County Sheriff’s office.
On Jan. 9 Gorge Ecumenical Ministries will host a workshop on “Recognizing and Responding to the Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children.” All area clergy and other professionals are invited to attend this gathering at Hood River Valley Christian Church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
