School board members postponed adopting a final mascot design until a review of current logo offerings and potential revisions can take place at the next District 21 meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. July 10 in the Wahtonka campus library. Board members expressed doubts about the design submitted for approval at the June 26 meeting and complaints about the process through which it had been selected.

In an election with only a 29.3 percent turnout, some races in Wasco County’s special district elections on May 21 came down to fewer than 50 votes. “Twenty nine percent is pretty low … we had a very quiet day,” said County Clerk Linda Brown. She said a similar race in May 2011 had a 35 percent turnout.

To the editor: I have known Eric Nerdin for almost ten years. During this time, he has displayed a high level of commitment to our local youth programs. Eric has proven himself to be very dependable and willing to work very hard to accomplish any task that is put before him. Eric is well liked by peers and local youth. He consistently displays sound and solid judgement as long as I have known him.
