HOOD RIVER — A momentous celebration took place Jan. 8 at the Hood River Valley Adult Center as Scout Troop 282 held its Eagle Court of Honor for Kelsey Jacobson, the 48th Eagle Scout from the troop and the first female Eagle Scout in the Mid-Columbia.

Steven Sliwa, formerly of Insitu, has been awarded the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award following his nomination by the Cascade Pacific Council, Hood River, Oregon and the Boy Scouts of America. This award is granted to Eagle Scouts who, after 25 years, have distinguished themselves in their life work and who have shared their talents with their communities on a voluntary basis.
