To the editor: RaeLynn Ricarte writes, in her column, “The present high level of deception would not be possible if citizens were grounded in the principles of the U.S. Constitution and truly understood how a republican form of government was supposed to work.” In a republic, the supreme power is held by the people. Our representatives do not supplant us; and politicians are not demigods.

To the editor: I am not in favor of adopting Cuba! M.D. Van Valkenburgh thinks it is a great place to go and maybe it is. I have never been there but I am very concerned about the future of this deal made by our president! What do we gain from this? What are the restrictions? What prevents Cuba from letting Russia in?
