The Hood River Valley Swim Team’s senior swimmers took Region XII by storm and scored enough points to put the HRVST in 17th place at the region championships held earlier this month, placing just behind the Vancouver Swim Club and just ahead of the Columbia River Swim Team.

The HRV swim team hasn’t had many chances to show its stuff this season, with about half of the team’s scheduled meets having been canceled due to various reasons.

The Hood River Aquatic Center was jam packed over the weekend with 12 teams of high school swimmers from across the state in-house for the annual The Dalles Invitational.

Hood River Valley High School swimming will send eight team members to compete in this OSAA 5A boys and girls swimming state championships this weekend at Mt. Hood Community College.

Dhani Freeland led the Hood River Valley Swim team at the recent 13-and-over Oregon Swimming Inc. long-course championships with a first-place finish in the 200 IM, a second-place finish in the 400 freestyle and several other top-five finishes in her age group.
