TD tennis almost nets three victories in loss at HRV

Dalia Mondragon scored a three-set tiebreaker win at No. 2 singles, and The Dalles girls’ tennis team nearly had two other wins in doubles play, but lost in tiebreakers in a 7-1 road loss to Hood River Valley in a varsity match Tuesday at Hood River. “Despite the score, this was a great outing for us, especially for our doubles teams,” TD head coach Debby Jones said.

Dalia Mondragon picked up a singles triumph to lead The Dalles girls’ tennis team for its lone win and the team racked up a season-high 52 set points overall in an 8-1 loss versus Ridgeview Friday in Redmond.

With just four players having previous varsity experience, The Dalles girls’ tennis coach Debby Jones knew it was going to be an uphill battle against a more seasoned Redmond squad. Dalia Mondragon won her first match of the season, and three other matches were three set points from forcing tiebreakers in TD’s 7-1 loss Wednesday at The Dalles High School.
