Hernandez hit a pair of clutch fourth-quarter 3-pointers, and he and teammate Josh Nisbet combined for 27 second-half points as The Dalles Riverhawks overcame a 33-29 halftime deficit with a 43-33 run in the final 16 minutes to dispatch of Hood River Valley, 72-66, Tuesday in Columbia River Conference hoops action at Kurtz Gym.
Jacob Hernandez, Josh Nisbet and Oscar Fernandez combined for 46 points, but Dakota Murr was held to no second-half field goals, and the Pendleton Buckaroos broke open a 38-30 halftime cushion with a 40-32 second-half flurry to net a 78-62 win Friday in a boys’ basketball matchup played in Pendleton.

In that matchup, the No. 12 Riverhawks trailed late in the fourth quarter, but a few bounces went their way down the stretch to turn the tide.
Getting through the toughest part of the regular season schedule, playing four games in 11 days, The Dalles boys’ basketball team posted a 3-1 mark, with a three-game winning streak snapped last Friday by a 66-61 margin at home against No. 4-ranked Bend.

With his team down 62-61 and time running out, Murr drained the game-winning 3-pointer as time expired to give the No. 11-ranked Riverhawks a 64-62 victory over Milwaukie Tuesday in a boys’ basketball thriller played at Milwaukie High School.
