The Dufur boys’ track and field team was in 22nd place through one day with four points, as Tanner Masterson, Cole Kortge and Friedrick Stelzer were the main contributors. Masterson posted a mark of 11.61 seconds for fifth place in the boys’ 100-meter prelims and tacked on a personal-record 23.16 to end up second in the 200-meter prelims for a finals berth in both events.
Over their last six games, the Dufur Rangers have won four times and are one game behind Horizon Christian, Sherman and Ione, so following Saturday’s 47-28 victory over Condon-Wheeler, the Rangers stayed within striking distance to make it a four-horse race for the final three district playoff spots.
Coming off a lopsided loss Thursday to Sherman, the Dufur Rangers fought off a sluggish start to defeat Condon-Wheeler by a 74-52 margin Friday in a Big Sky Conference boys’ basketball game played in Fossil.
Taylor Darden tallied a season-high 21 points and Aimeelyn Miller added 11 of her own to lead the No. 14-ranked Dufur Lady Rangers, but No. 1 Condon-Wheeler had too many weapons to handle in jumping out to a 63-53 win Saturday in Big Sky girls’ play in Fossil.
Coming off a spirited four-point loss to defending champion Condon-Wheeler at the 1A Hoops Girls’ Basketball Classic, the Dufur Lady Rangers did not leave anything to chance in a 48-29 win over Mitchell-Spray this past Saturday at Spray High School.
