The Columbia Gorge Basketball Academy also had a handful of other teams showcased on the hardwood at the Columbia Gorge Classic and the Pacific League Tournament last weekend to complete the 2019-2020 winter hoops session, with the seventh grade boys taking first place, and three other earning runner-up honors.

Ahead of the third annual The Dalles Winter Classic scheduled for Feb. 23-24, the Columbia Gorge Basketball Academy is riding a stretch of successful opening finishes at last month’s Gorge Hoops Invitational.
Hood River Valley Nordic was joined by Summit, South Bend, Redmond, St. Mary’s Academy, and Corvallis at last Saturday’s Teacup Classic race, hosted by St. Mary’s Academy. The morning brought numb fingers and rosy cheeks, the sky was clear, it was a cool 7 degrees, and no wind was present.
Booster Club to host Golf Classic The Dalles Booster Club is holding its inaugural TD Booster Club Golf Classic at 2 p.m. Sunday at The Dalles Country Club. This a shotgun start and all community members are welcome to attend this fundraiser. Each team consists of four players in a scramble format. There will be side games, contests and prizes available. Dinner will be served at the conclusion of the event. Costs are $500 for a team and $125 for an individual. Jumpstart Track Meet on tap The 15th annual Jumpstart Elementary School Track Meet is open for all boys and girls from kindergarten through fifth grade at the Wahtonka Track from 6-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24. There is no entry fee and if kids stop by before 6 p.m., registration is not necessary. Ribbons are offered for the top five boys and girls in each event. In a preview of the OSAA 5A state championship course, Hood River Valley High School cross country raced at Lane Community College in Eugene Saturday at the annual Northwest Classic. With many of the state’s 5A and 6A teams in attendance, the Eagles lined-up against fields of nearly 150 varsity runners who were there to test their legs and lungs at the biggest meet of the season thus far.
