Ferment Brewery pub and tasting room opened Aug. 8 on the Hood River waterfront at Second and Portway, in the newly-built (and almost finished) Key Development complex.

Breweries in the Gorge alliance has grown by one more member, Ferment Brewing. Owners Dan and Jenn Peterson are amidst a rebranding program as they prepare for their physical move to the SkyLab building, under construction on the waterfront at Second and Portway.

Three Hood River breweries and one in The Dalles will participate in the annual Zwickelmania brewery tour on Saturday.

Fruit gains a big lift this month with three beers made from unusual fruits, pouring at pFriem Family Brewing and Logsdon Farmhouse Ales. Both are redolent, colorful ales, distinct but not overpowering with the flavor and aroma of their essential fruit: plums at Logsdon (Zuur Pruim — sour plum in Flemish) and at pFriem the blueberry Bosbesson and Farmhouse made from … kumquats.
