The Hood River City Police Department and the Hood River County Sheriff’s Department have announced traffic enforcement patrol increases in the coming weeks, with an emphasis on seat belts, speed and cell phone use while driving.

Beginning May 18 until May 31, the Hood River City Police Department will be conducting a two week traffic safety Blitz campaign. The focus will be on seat belts, speed, and cell phone use while driving.

The Hood River Police Department will be working in partnership with the Oregon Department of Transportation and other local agencies in conducting a traffic safety belt blitz campaign. The safety campaign will start May 19 and end June 1. The emphasis will be on proper seat belt and child safety seat use.

On Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 2, the Hood River Police Department will be conducting a traffic safety blitz campaign. The purpose of this campaign will be to focus on people driving under the influence of intoxicants. This is in cooperation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
